In the hands of the attackers were the names, phone numbers and email addresses of users.

Unidentified attackers hacked the website of the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs of France, created for citizens traveling abroad, and stole a database for emergency communications containing personal information of more than 540 thousand people.

The cybercriminals have at their disposal names, phone numbers and email addresses of users entered into the database when registering with the Ariane service (it allows people who plan to travel abroad to register online, in particular, to receive information about security).

“The personal data registered during registration on the Ariane platform was stolen. These data can be used for purposes other than intended, but limited in their action, because they do not include confidential financial information or information that reveals the destination of the trips listed on Ariane, ”the agency said in a statement.

The attack occurred on December 5 of this year. The Office has already notified all users affected by the incident, and promised to take measures to prevent similar situations in the future. Currently, the Ariane site continues to work. About who is behind the attack in the Foreign Ministry did not report.
