Last week, LinkedIn released its third-annual Emerging Jobs Report, which highlights the fastest-growing jobs around the world. Topping the list in the United States is Artificial Intelligence Specialist, with 74% annual growth over the past four years.
“This is the third year in a row a role related to machine learning or artificial intelligence has topped the list, and we can only expect demand to increase,” says Guy Berger, the principal economist at LinkedIn.
AI is now applied across a variety of industries, including computer software, information technology and services, higher education and consumer electronics to name a few.
Indeed.com also reported that Machine Learning Engineer jumped up from #5 to #1 for this year’s Best Jobs of 2019 list with 344% growth since 2015. They also estimate an average base salary of $146,085 for the role in the U.S.
Cybersecurity professionals who add AI to their skillset can understandably expect to open up many opportunities in this highly sought-after field. Our Professional Development Institute (PDI) currently offers two different courses on AI, both of which are free to (ISC)² members and associates and will be releasing a third course in 2020.
Introduction to AI helps professionals new to AI learn to “talk the talk” with an introduction to basic concepts and terminology within the field, including inputs, languages and reasoning. Building upon those fundamentals, the Security Pro’s Guide to AI is designed to further your studies and provides a brief guide to data science, aggregation and the application of AI in cybersecurity, as well as the strategise professionals can use to secure AI constructs.
(ISC)² members and associates can access both of these courses – each worth 2 CPEs upon completion – for no additional charge. Non-members may purchase each course for $200.
